Foreign Investment Promotion & Protection Agreement with Kuwait
Mr. Speaker,
as you know, our Government’s top priority remains completing
the economic recovery.
Canadians gave our Conservative
Government a strong mandate to stay focused on what matters –
creating jobs and economic growth.
We know one in five Canadian jobs is
dependent on trade and as the Minister of International Trade
has repeatedly said, Canadians understand that free trade is a
jobs issue; trade is good for the Canadian economy; trade is
good for Canadian workers; trade is good for Canadian families.
Today, the Prime Minister and the
Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait witnessed the signing of
the Canada-Kuwait Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection
Agreement.
This agreement will help increase
two-way investment, open new markets and support Canadian
efforts to explore the growing investment opportunities in
Kuwait.
Mr. Speaker, this is a strong
demonstration of our Conservative Government’s commitment to
create the right conditions for Canadian businesses to compete
internationally.
We know when companies succeed abroad, workers and their
families benefit in my city of London and throughout Canada.
