City
Granted $2M funding
by Jonathan Sher
London will receive nearly $2 million from the
federal and provincial governments to upgrade playing fields,
part of stimulus funding that with a city contribution now tops
$110 million.
"This funding will create jobs today and will
improve the quality of life in London for many years to come,"
MP Ed Holder (London West) said yesterday.
The Westmount Presbyterian Church will also
receive $19,200 of federal and provincial funding towards a
$32,000 upgrade project, enabling the 40-year-old facility to
create a gymnasium with improved lighting, increased floor
space, a new athletic floor with markings, storage areas and
basketball nets.
