Holder Questions Minister on “Buy American” Issue
June 15, 2009
– Member of Parliament Ed
Holder rose in the House of Commons this afternoon to question the
Minister of Foreign Affairs, as concern over the ‘Buy American
campaign’ increases the chances of additional job losses in London.
“As a Member of the Standing Committee on International Trade, I traveled
to Washington and spoke with Legislators about this critical issue
affecting my city of London, and cities like London across our
country.
Our Governments are spending
billions to stimulate the North American economy and any
protectionist trade policies will do more damage to both countries
than it could benefit one,” said Holder.
“The Minister met with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and
I felt Londoners should know the progress they are making on such an
important file.
Ultimately, thousands of jobs will rest on the result of their
discussions.”
