Holder Announces More Funding
for Recreational Facilities in London
July 8, 2009
– Member of Parliament Ed Holder is pleased to announce that
in addition to the recreational funding announcements on Monday, an
additional two London projects will receive funding.
The City of London will receive almost $2 million from the federal
and provincial governments towards their $3.5 million playing fields
upgrade project. The upgrade project will replace the playing
fields with artificial turf and facilitate the construction of a
Field House.
The Westmount Presbyterian Church will also receive $19,200 of
federal and provincial funding towards their $32,000 upgrade
project. Their project will revive a 40-year-old facility by
removing a stage and turning an auditorium into a gymnasium with
improved lighting, increased floor space, a new athletic floor with
markings, storage areas and basketball nets.
“This funding will create
jobs today and will improve the quality of life in London for many
years to come. Together with the provincial government and our
partners, we are building a healthier London with $13.5 million
of economic stimulus spending in recreational facilities.
I’m pleased so many worthwhile projects in London will receive this
funding.
