NEW
MILITARY SUPPORT CENTRE IN LONDON
LONDON, Ont. – Today, Laurie
Hawn, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National
Defence, on behalf of the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of
National Defence, announced plans to construct a new facility
to house the Integrated Personnel Support Centre (IPSC) and 2 Area
Support Group Signal Squadron Detachment London. This facility at
Area Support Unit (ASU) London will address the current lack of
infrastructure needed to house the two units.
“Our government has made a commitment to
improve and standardize the care offered to injured and ill Canadian
Forces personnel, veterans and their families. Through the creation
of the Integrated Personnel Support Centre, the Department of
National Defence is fulfilling this commitment,” said Mr. Hawn. “The
construction of this new facility ensures military members in London
have the resources they need to do their jobs properly and
effectively.”
This project,
valued at approximately $1.3 million, includes the construction of a
new 871 m2
facility that will address current
accessibility issues and be more conducive to providing the services
required for ill or injured personnel. The project also entails the
demolition of the facility that currently houses 2 ASG Sig Sqn Det
London.
In line with the Canada First
Defence Strategy, there is a need to update and replace dated
defence infrastructure to meet the challenges of the 21st
century.
The Government of Canada
will conduct open, fair, and transparent competition processes in
order to award the contracts associated with this project at ASU
London
The Department of National
