On August 11, 2009 the
Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) representatives Tony Blay and
Paul Hancock along with Member of Parliament for London West, Mr. Ed Holder
presented 50 cuddly magenta blankets to Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter.
Mission Services of London is grateful for this
thoughtful donation of blankets. It is an ongoing challenge to provide for
the growing number of homeless individuals in London. We would be
unable to provide this breadth of service without considerable community
support such as this. We sincerely thank Mr. Ed Holder, Mr. Paul Hancock,
Mr. Tony Blay and the members of the IBAC for joining us in the fight
against homelessness in our community.
Every year the IBAC provides blankets to worthy
organizations across Canada as part of a major national network of
charitable giving. These blankets are a symbol of an Insurance broker’s
commitment to their clients and their community.
This year, IBAC selected six Members of Parliament
form across the country to whom they presented 50 blankets so that they may
in turn donate them to worthy organizations within their riding.
This year, Mr. Ed Holder, graciously selected
Rotholme Women’s Family Shelter to be the recipient of the cuddly blankets.
He stated that he was “simply thrilled to partner with the Insurance Brokers
to donate these blankets to such worthy organization in London.” He
continued by saying “The fall is fast approaching and families will soon
begin to prepare for the winter months. These blankets will help offer
comfort and warmth to their children and families.”
Leaurie Noordermeer, Branch Director of Rotholme
Women’s & Family shelter was delighted to accept the donation on behalf of
Mission Services of London. She stated that there were currently 46 men,
women and children staying at the shelter and they would each be able to
receive a blanket to call their own.
