ONE MONTH REMAINING TO NOMINATE LONDONERS

LONDON, August 8, 2026 London West Member of Parliament Ed Holder is encouraging his constituents to nominate worthy Londoners for the new Prime Ministers Volunteer Awards.  The first Prime Minister's Volunteer Awards call for nominations will close on September 9, 2011.

Lets nominate worthy Londoners and help local charities at the same time!  There are so many worthy Londoners and acknowledging their efforts will also bring further assistance to the charities and organizations they have worked so hard to support themselves.  You can help our community by nominating worthy Londoners for these awards, said Holder.

In January 2011, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced the creation of the Prime Ministers Volunteer Awards to recognize the exceptional contribution volunteers make to Canada.  Seventeen Prime Ministers Volunteer Awards will be presented to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding contributions of volunteers, local businesses and innovative not-for-profit organizations that make a difference in their communities.  Regional award recipients will be eligible to identify a not-for-profit organization to receive a $5,000 grant.  National award recipients will be eligible to identify a not-for-profit organization to receive a $10,000 grant.

The goal of the awards program is to inspire Canadians from all walks of life to find new ways of making a difference.   Nominees can be individuals or groups, businesses or not-for-profit organizations.  Nominators may be any person or organization with direct knowledge of the nominees contribution, encouraged Holder.

Information on the nomination process is available at www.pm.gc.ca/awards.   Award recipients will be announced each year at an award ceremony, the first of which will be held in early 2012.
